The Anglican Parish of St. Andrew & St. George is pleased to share the celebration of your marriage. We welcome you, your family and friends to our church.
The Process:
- An INITIAL PLANNING MEETING is scheduled.
- Two, one-hour ‘MARRIAGE PREPARATION’ sessions will be held with the minister, which focus on helping the couple to communicate and strengthen their relationship.
- The MARRIAGE LICENSE must be in place.
- The WEDDING REHEARSAL
- The WEDDING. There is flexibility within the traditional Anglican service. Plans for the service will be made with the minister.
THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE- You will be presented with a Certificate duly signed by the Minister and your witnesses, as a reminder of this very important event in your lives. An official Marriage Certificate from the government may be obtained by sending to the Department of Vital Statistics in Victoria. A form is supplied by the government agent at the B.C. Access Centre.
Some common issues:
MUSIC: Wedding music is ultimately under the direction of the organist and clergy, but we try to be flexible including music which is meaningful to the family.
FLOWERS: Flowers placed on the shelves behind the altar are considered given to the glory of God and should be left there. Other flowers may be removed by the family.
PEW BOWS AND CANDLES: Decorations may include pew bows (attached so as not to damage the finish on the pews). Candles for the altar are provided by the church. If you are having the UNITY CANDLE ceremony at your wedding, you will be responsible for providing a large 8-10″ candle for the altar and two tapers. Please bring them to the rehearsal.
PICTURES: Flash pictures are not allowed during the service except during the processional and recessional and the signing of the register. The official photographer may take pictures during the ceremony if no flash is used. Video cameras are allowed with clergy direction about where they may be located.
CONFETTI: Please, no confetti, birdseed, or rice, either in or outside the church.
After The Service:
Our church is here to strengthen your relationship through counselling and support received from being a member of our church family. We invite you to attend worship services with us.
Wedding Costs
FEES:
- Organist $ 75.00 (an extra fee will be charged if the organist is requested to rehearse
with a soloist) - Janitor $ 25.00
- St. Andrew’s Altar Guild $ 20.00
- Clergy Honorarium $150.00 (suggested)
- Church Donation $200.00 (suggested)
Please issue separate cheques for the Organist, Janitor, Altar Guild and Clergy. The cheque for the church should be made payable to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
